With AZ Dryer Pros, standard dryer vent cleaning is $79 for a typical wall vent. Heavily clogged or long runs start at $129, and roof or second-floor vents at $199. The technician measures the airflow, shows you photos and gives you the exact price before any extra work. If you say no to anything beyond the $79 cleaning, you only pay the $79.
What the $79 cleaning includes
- Airflow reading at the outside vent before we start
- The transition hose pulled and the lint around the dryer connection cleared
- The full vent run brushed and vacuumed from the dryer to the outside hood
- The outside hood and flap cleared so it opens freely
- The dryer run again and the airflow re-measured
- Before-and-after photos sent to you
When $79 isn't the whole price
Most vents are a standard cleaning. The price changes when the job is bigger than that, and you see why before anything happens:
- Packed or very long runs that take extra time to clear: from $129
- Vents that exit through the roof or a second-floor wall: from $199
- A crushed or torn hose behind the dryer: from $149
- A crushed, split or disconnected duct inside the wall or attic: from $299
- A broken outside cap or flap, or birds nesting in it: from $149
How often should a dryer vent be cleaned?
At least once a year, which is what the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends. Clean it sooner if loads take longer than they used to, the laundry room gets hot, or you have a large family, pets or a long or roof-mounted vent. The lint screen should be cleaned before or after every load; it catches most lint, but not all of it.
Why it matters
Lint is the fuel in most dryer fires. The U.S. Fire Administration estimates about 2,900 home clothes dryer fires a year, and failure to clean is the leading cause, at about a third of them. A clogged vent also makes the dryer run longer and hotter, which wears out heating elements and thermal fuses and costs more to run.
Is your vent too long?
Building code (IRC M1502.4.5.1) limits a standard dryer vent to 35 feet from the hose connection to the outside, and every sharp 90° elbow counts as 5 feet of that, a 45° as 2½ feet. Many Arizona homes, especially two-story stucco homes venting through the roof, are close to or over that limit. Long runs clog faster; the technician will tell you if yours is one, and whether rerouting or a booster fan would help.
How a visit works
- Book a window. Pick 8–11, 11–2 or 2–5, Sunday to Friday. We call to confirm and again before we arrive.
- Airflow test. We measure at the outside vent and check the hose behind the dryer.
- Price, then work. Standard vent: $79. Anything more, you see photos and the price first.
- Clean and re-test. The full run is cleaned, the dryer is run, and the airflow is measured again.
